Take the fast-track route to Canadian Permanent Residency with the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) β designed for skilled professionals in trades like construction, maintenance, and manufacturing. With no formal education requirement and high demand across multiple industries, FSTP offers a golden opportunity to work, settle, and thrive in Canada. Let Middle East Migration (MEM) guide your journey from application to arrival.
The Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) is one of the core immigration streams under Canadaβs Express Entry System, designed specifically for internationally experienced trade workers. If you’re a skilled tradesperson looking to settle in Canada permanently, FSTP offers a fast-track pathway to PR, especially in high-demand sectors facing labor shortages.
Direct pathway to Canadian Permanent Residency
Priority selection for high-demand trades
No formal education requirement
Opportunity to work and live in any Canadian province
Potential to apply for Canadian citizenship after a few years of residence
Canada publishes a regular list of skilled trades facing labor shortages based on the National Occupation Classification (NOC) system. This includes:
Industrial, Electrical, and Construction Trades
Maintenance and Equipment Operation Trades
Supervisors and Technical Roles in Natural Resources, Agriculture
Processing, Manufacturing, and Utility Supervisors
Chefs, Butchers, and Bakers
Note: Selection under the FSTP is conducted through the Express Entry pool and uses a points-based system. However, due to the labor shortage, your chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) are significantly higher.
To qualify for the Federal Skilled Trades Program, you must:
Have a valid job offer from a Canadian employer (minimum one year duration)
OR a Certificate of Qualification from a Canadian provincial or territorial authority
Possess at least two years of full-time work experience (or equivalent part-time experience) in a qualifying skilled trade within the past five years
Meet the language proficiency requirement:
CLB 5 for speaking and listening
CLB 4 for reading and writing (in English or French)

Valid passport and complete travel history
Language test results (IELTS/CELPIP for English or TEF for French)
Police clearance certificate

π There is no formal education requirement for the FSTP. However, having post-secondary education can improve your CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) score in the Express Entry pool.
